This page covers what you can still do after a cancelled flight, what our tours include and leave out, and how a balloon moved to tomorrow fits around a day tour. We do not sell balloon flights, so this page does not cover rebooking one.
What can you do today, depending on the time?
Pick the row that matches your situation. All three tours below start after the balloon flights.
| Situation | What to do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Before 07:30 and you want a tour today | Book online for today, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll check | Red Tour |
| After 07:30 | Book for tomorrow; same-day booking has closed | Red, South or Green |
| Your balloon moved to tomorrow | Do a tour today and fly at dawn tomorrow; our pickups come after the flights | Any of the three tours |
| No plan, just a free morning | Visit Göreme Open-Air Museum on your own | Ticket and hours guide |
Who decides if balloons fly in Cappadocia?
The civil aviation authority (SHGM) gives flight permission day by day through its Nevşehir coordination, based on the weather. According to TRT Haber, wind, fog and rain or snow are the usual reasons flights are called off.
Can you still join a day tour this morning?
Yes, if it is before 07:30 Turkey time. Red, Green and South all run every day, and same-day booking stays open until 07:30 Turkey time, two hours before the start. Hotel pickup is between 09:30 and 10:20, depending on your hotel's area (Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos and Nevşehir). We send the exact time the day before.
Before 07:30 you can also message us on WhatsApp and we'll check. We reply on WhatsApp within about 1 hour, 09:00–18:00 Turkey time, and in the evening whenever we can.
Reserve now, pay in cash on the day (euros or US dollars) — no deposit, no card needed.
Not sure which day fits? Ask us on WhatsApp — reply in about 1 h, 09:00–18:00 Turkey time.
Which tour suits a tired early start?
All three are full days. The table shows what each one asks of you, from our own itineraries. We do not rank them because they cover different places.
| Red Tour | South Tour | Green Tour | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Length (our itinerary) | about 8 hours | about 8 hours | about 9 hours, including about 2¾ hours of driving |
| Walking (our itinerary) | about 2.5 km | about 3 km, with an uphill stretch at Çavuşin | Ihlara walk of 3.5–4 km, about 1.5 hours |
| Main stops (our itinerary) | Devrent (about 20 min), Paşabağ (about 45 min), Zelve (about 1 hour) | Çavuşin (30–45 min), Özkonak (about 45 min), Pigeon Valley and Ortahisar (about 30 min) | Kaymaklı (about 1 hour), Ihlara Valley, Selime (about 45 min) |
If you want the least walking, the Red Tour has about 2.5 km in our itinerary. The South Tour adds an uphill walk at Çavuşin. The Green Tour is the longest day and spends the most time in the vehicle. It is not suitable if you are claustrophobic or have real difficulty walking. Our Red, Green or South guide covers the choice in more detail, and all three are on our Cappadocia tours page.
What if your balloon moves to tomorrow?
Our day tours start after the balloon flights, so a tour today and a flight at dawn tomorrow do not clash.
One honest caveat: day-tour cancellation gives a full refund only 72 hours or more before the tour. Between 24 and 72 hours, 50% of the tour price is refunded. Under 24 hours, or if you do not show up, there is no refund. While your balloon plans are still moving, book the tour you would do anyway, not one you hope to swap later.
What does our Red Tour not include?
The Red Tour does not go inside Göreme Open-Air Museum, and it does not include a balloon flight. If you want to see the museum, the foreign-visitor ticket is €20 on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism tariff (muze.gov.tr, checked 29 October 2026); our ticket and hours guide has the details.
The Red itinerary has two workshop stops: pottery in Avanos and a carpet weaving centre, about 30–45 minutes each. You do not have to buy anything at either. Lunch is a buffet.
Is a free morning better spent on your own?
It can be. If you want only one or two sights rather than a full day, Göreme Open-Air Museum is an easy independent visit. If you want to see Devrent, Paşabağ and Zelve without arranging your own transport, the Red Tour covers all three with a guide.
