    Day one of your two-day shared tour covers the Red route in northern Cappadocia. Pickup is 09:30–10:20 by area (Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos, Nevşehir); we send the exact time the day before, and the same applies for tomorrow. Over about 8 hours you see rock figures at Devrent, the hermit chimneys of Paşabağ and the old cave village of Zelve, with lunch in Avanos. The walking adds up to roughly 2.5 km on uneven ground. A pottery workshop and a carpet workshop are on today's program, with no obligation to buy. Göreme Open-Air Museum is not part of this day.

      Time here: about 20 min

      Also called Imagination Valley: a field of rounded cones without cave rooms, where the fun is naming the animal shapes. The camel is the easiest to spot.

    2. Paşabağ Monks Valley

      Time here: about 45 min

      In Byzantine times hermits carved cells into these twin- and triple-capped chimneys; one cone keeps a chapel dedicated to St Simeon.

    3. Avanos pottery workshop

      Time here: about 45 min

      Avanos sits on the Kızılırmak, Turkey's longest river, whose iron-rich clay gives local pots their red color. Watch a potter at the wheel; no obligation to buy.

    4. Buffet lunch in Avanos

      Open buffet at a local restaurant; drinks are extra.

    5. Carpet Weaving Education Center (about 30–45 min)

      Weavers at their looms, silk reeled from cocoons and a talk on regional carpet patterns, with tea; no obligation to buy.

    6. Zelve Open-Air Museum

      Time here: about 1 hour

      Spread across three valleys, Zelve was a working village with homes, chapels, a mosque and grain stores until its people moved to New Zelve in the 1950s. It became a museum in 1967.

    Your second day follows the South route, again with hotel pickup between 09:30 and 10:20 depending on your area, at the time we confirm the day before. It works well as a second day: fewer fairy chimneys than yesterday, more village life and underground rooms. You hike up to abandoned Çavuşin, go down into Özkonak Underground City, have a buffet lunch and finish with viewpoints over Pigeon Valley and Ortahisar. Expect about 8 hours and some 3 km on foot. Onyx and leather workshops are on today's program, and buying is optional.

    1. Old Çavuşin

      Time here: 30–45 min

      A short uphill hike takes you from the new village to the empty cliff settlement, evacuated in the early 1960s. From the top there is a view over Red Valley.

    2. Özkonak Underground City

      Time here: about 45 min

      Discovered in 1972 north of Avanos, Özkonak is quieter than the larger underground cities, and parts of it are still used locally for storage.

    3. Buffet lunch

      Open buffet at a restaurant on the route; drinks not included.

    4. Onyx workshop (about 30–45 min)

      Learn to tell onyx from other local stones and watch it polished into bowls and jewelry; no obligation to buy.

    5. Pigeon Valley and Ortahisar viewpoints

      Time here: about 30 min

      Dovecotes pepper the valley walls, and the rock castles of Uçhisar and Ortahisar stand out on the skyline.

    6. Leather workshop (about 30–45 min)

      A final craft stop showing how leather garments are made in the region; no obligation to buy.

Cancellation policy

Free cancellation up to 72 hours

  • 72 hours or more: Full refund. 24–72 hours: 50% of the tour price is refunded. Under 24 hours or no-show: No refund.
  • Request cancellation in writing, by email or WhatsApp; the cancellation date is the day we receive your message. Refunds go back the way you paid, within 14 days: card payments to the same card. Shore excursions are paid on the day, so nothing is collected in advance.
  • If unavoidable extraordinary circumstances at the destination make the trip impossible, you receive a full refund, less any mandatory taxes and genuinely non-refundable third-party payments, itemised for you.
  • Date changes are free when requested at least 72 hours before a day tour, 24 hours before a shore excursion, or 21 days before a package or a day trip by plane, subject to availability. For these, a date change 14–20 days before departure costs €50 per booking; under 14 days it depends on availability, and any airline or hotel change fees are charged at cost. Name changes (passing your booking to someone else at least 7 days before departure) are free except for any airline name-change fee, charged at cost.
  • If TurkeyVia cancels, including because the minimum group size is not met, you can choose a full refund or an alternative.
