  1. Day 1Day One: Flight to Cappadocia, Red Route at Your PaceDevrent Valley · Paşabağ (Monks Valley) · Avanos pottery workshop
    Your private driver picks you up at your Istanbul hotel early in the morning for the domestic flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir. On arrival your own guide and vehicle are waiting, and you spend the day on the Red route at your pace: Devrent Valley's rock shapes, the capped chimneys of Paşabağ, a pottery demonstration in Avanos, lunch and an unhurried walk through Zelve's abandoned cave village. The day's only workshop is the pottery visit, and buying is up to you. Göreme Open-Air Museum is not included. You finish at your cave hotel for the night.

      Hermits once lived inside these cones; take time to find St Simeon's chapel and the cells carved high in the rock.

    5. Avanos pottery workshop

      Time here: about 45 min

      Pottery-making in Avanos goes back thousands of years, and a local potter demonstrates on the wheel. No obligation to buy.

    6. Lunch in Avanos

      Lunch at a local restaurant; drinks are not included.

    7. Zelve Open-Air Museum

      Time here: about 1–1.5 hours

      With your own guide you can go deeper into Zelve's three valleys, where villagers lived in the rock until they were resettled in the 1950s.

  2. Day 2Day Two: Kaymaklı, Ihlara, Selime and Flight HomeGöreme panorama from Esentepe · Kaymaklı Underground City · Ihlara Valley
    Your private guide collects you from the hotel for the Green route, a long day with around 2¾ hours of driving that is easier in your own vehicle. Descend through Kaymaklı Underground City, walk the Ihlara canyon beside the Melendiz for about 3.5–4 km, lunch by the river at Belisırma and finish at Selime Monastery, which is included with no extra fee. There are no workshop visits on this day. In the evening you are driven to the airport for a flight to Istanbul, around 20:00. The underground passages are narrow and low, so tell us in advance about any claustrophobia.

    2. Kaymaklı Underground City

      Time here: about 1 hour

      Used as a refuge in the Byzantine period, Kaymaklı is explored level by level with your guide; the four open floors include stables and a chapel.

    3. Ihlara Valley

      Time here: about 1.5 hours

      Walk the shaded riverbank path toward Belisırma, with stops at cliff churches: those nearer Ihlara village have local Cappadocian-style paintings, while those near Belisırma show 10th–11th-century Byzantine work.

    4. Riverside lunch at Belisırma

      Lunch beside the Melendiz; drinks are extra.

    5. Selime Monastery

      Time here: about 45 min

      A rock-cut monastery complex with a church, kitchen and stables at the valley's northern end; entry is included at no extra fee.

    6. Evening flight to Istanbul

      Transfer to the Cappadocia airport for a flight around 20:00; transport from the Istanbul airport to your hotel is not included.

  • Domestic flights are economy class. Your baggage allowance follows the ticket fare, and we confirm it with your tickets.
  • Travel with the passport you booked with: airlines check the name on the ticket against it.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes: the valleys and rock-cut sites have uneven ground and steps, and the underground city has low, narrow passages.
  • Bring a hat and sunscreen in summer and a warm layer in spring, autumn and winter: mornings in Cappadocia are cool, and the underground city stays cool all year.
  • Vegetarian, vegan or other dietary needs at lunch: tell us when you book and we let the restaurant know.
  • Mobility needs or travelling with small children? Tell us before you book, and we tell you honestly which parts of the day suit you.
  • We send your final programme, hotel names and pickup times before departure, and you can reach us on WhatsApp during the trip.

Payment and cancellation

  • 91 days or more: The 25% administrative fee is charged. 61–90 days: 55% of the total is charged (30% + the 25% administrative fee). 31–60 days: 65% of the total is charged (40% + the 25% administrative fee). 16–30 days: 95% of the total is charged (70% + the 25% administrative fee). 15 days or less or no-show: 100% of the total is charged. Charges are percentages of the total booking value and include the 25% administrative fee retained on every cancellation; non-refundable flight, hotel or entrance tickets already bought are added, up to 100% of the total. Your deposit is applied to the charge: if the charge is higher than your deposit, you pay us the difference; anything we hold above the charge is refunded within 14 days.
  • If a hotel in your package is booked on a non-refundable rate, we tell you before you pay and that night's cost is retained on cancellation.
  • Request cancellation in writing, by email or WhatsApp; the cancellation date is the day we receive your message. Refunds go back the way you paid, within 14 days: card payments to the same card. Shore excursions are paid on the day, so nothing is collected in advance.
  • If unavoidable extraordinary circumstances at the destination make the trip impossible, you receive a full refund, less any mandatory taxes and genuinely non-refundable third-party payments, itemised for you.
  • Date changes are free when requested at least 72 hours before a day tour, 24 hours before a shore excursion, or 21 days before a package or a day trip by plane, subject to availability. For these, a date change 14–20 days before departure costs €50 per booking; under 14 days it depends on availability, and any airline or hotel change fees are charged at cost. Name changes (passing your booking to someone else at least 7 days before departure) are free except for any airline name-change fee, charged at cost.
  • If TurkeyVia cancels, including because the minimum group size is not met, you can choose a full refund or an alternative.

If we can’t book your flights or hotel for your dates, that counts as our cancellation: a full refund to your card within 14 days, or another date if you prefer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own flights for the private 2-day Cappadocia tour?

Yes. Remove the domestic flights option when booking, and your private guide meets you at the Cappadocia airport at a time confirmed with the booking. Arrivals around 08:00 and departures around 20:00 give you two full days.

Does the private 2-day tour include the airport transfer back in Istanbul?

It includes the ride from your Istanbul hotel to the airport on day 1 and every transfer in Cappadocia. For your evening arrival in Istanbul, you can add a private transfer from /airport-transfers.

Which hotel is used on the private 2-day Cappadocia tour?

You spend one night at Celestial Cave Hotel or a similar cave hotel, in a double room with breakfast. Dinner that evening is not included.

Are there shopping stops on the private 2-day tour?

Only one: the Avanos pottery workshop on day 1, where a potter demonstrates the wheel. There is no obligation to buy.

Can the private 2-day tour handle slower walkers?

Mostly yes. Your guide adapts the pace and the vehicle drops you near entrances. Zelve has uneven slopes and Kaymaklı's tunnels require stooping, so the Green day stays hard for anyone with serious mobility limits or claustrophobia.

What should I pack for one night in Cappadocia?

A small overnight bag, walking shoes with grip, a warm layer for underground and the evenings, and sun protection. Large suitcases are easier left at your Istanbul hotel.
