The first of your two private days follows the Red route through northern Cappadocia. The tour starts at 09:30: your guide and driver reach your hotel between 09:30 and 10:20, depending on whether you stay in Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos or Nevşehir, and we message the exact time the day before. With only your party in the vehicle, you decide where to linger, whether that means extra time among Zelve’s cave houses, a longer look at the Paşabağ chimneys or an early lunch. Plan on roughly 8 hours and about 2.5 km of walking over uneven paths. Göreme Open-Air Museum is not on this day’s route. Today includes a pottery demonstration in Avanos and the Carpet Weaving Education Center, with no obligation to buy.

  A short stroll among smooth cones shaped by wind and rain, with no cave rooms at all. Your guide points out the well-known camel figure and leaves the other animal shapes for you to find.
2. Paşabağ (Monks Valley)
  Time here: about 45 min
  Mushroom-capped chimneys, some with two or three heads, once sheltered hermits. Step inside the cone that holds a small chapel and cell linked to St Simeon.
3. Avanos pottery workshop
  Time here: about 45 min
  Potters in Avanos still work red clay from the banks of the Kızılırmak. Watch a jug take shape on the kick wheel, and ask for a turn yourself if you like; no obligation to buy.
4. Lunch in Avanos
  A sit-down lunch at a local restaurant, timed around your morning; drinks are extra.
5. Carpet Weaving Education Center (about 30–45 min)
  Hand-knotting at the looms, silk unwound from cocoons and a look at the plants behind natural dyes, over a glass of Turkish tea. No obligation to buy.
6. Zelve Open-Air Museum
  Time here: about 1–1.5 hours
  Three connected valleys of rock-cut homes, chapels and a small mosque, lived in until erosion moved the last families out in the 1950s. With your own guide you choose which paths to follow and how long to stay.

Day two switches to the South route, again from your hotel. The tour starts at 09:30, pickup is between 09:30 and 10:20 depending on your area, and the exact time reaches you the day before. After yesterday’s fairy chimneys, today is about village life and life underground: the abandoned cliff houses of old Çavuşin, the tunnels of Özkonak, lunch, and viewpoints over Pigeon Valley and Ortahisar to finish. Your guide can slow the Çavuşin climb or keep the underground visit short for anyone uneasy in tight passages. Allow around 8 hours and 3 km on foot. Onyx and leather workshop visits are part of the day, and there is no obligation to buy.

  Time here: 30–45 min
  The cliff village was emptied in the early 1960s after rockfalls. Take the uphill path at whatever speed suits your party; the Church of St John the Baptist is cut high into the rock face.
2. Özkonak Underground City
  Time here: about 45 min
  Found in 1972 north of Avanos, Özkonak has low tunnels, round rolling-stone doors and ceiling holes once used against intruders. Go as deep as you are comfortable with.
3. Lunch on the South route
  Lunch at a local restaurant along the way, earlier or later as your party prefers; drinks are extra.
4. Onyx workshop (about 30–45 min)
  Watch raw onyx cut and polished into bowls and small ornaments, and see the range of colours the stone comes in; no obligation to buy.
5. Pigeon Valley viewpoint
  Time here: about 20 min
  Rows of small dovecotes are carved into the valley walls, some edged with white paint to draw the birds in. Uçhisar castle rises behind them.
6. Ortahisar rock castle viewpoint
  Time here: about 15 min
  A last photo stop facing the honeycombed crag at the centre of Ortahisar village.
7. Leather workshop (about 30–45 min)
  The final stop introduces the region’s leather trade, with jackets and bags in soft lambskin on display; no obligation to buy.

Request cancellation in writing, by email or WhatsApp; the cancellation date is the day we receive your message. Refunds go back the way you paid, within 14 days: card payments to the same card. Shore excursions are paid on the day, so nothing is collected in advance.
If unavoidable extraordinary circumstances at the destination make the trip impossible, you receive a full refund, less any mandatory taxes and genuinely non-refundable third-party payments, itemised for you.
Date changes are free when requested at least 72 hours before a day tour, 24 hours before a shore excursion, or 21 days before a package or a day trip by plane, subject to availability. For these, a date change 14–20 days before departure costs €50 per booking; under 14 days it depends on availability, and any airline or hotel change fees are charged at cost. Name changes (passing your booking to someone else at least 7 days before departure) are free except for any airline name-change fee, charged at cost.
If TurkeyVia cancels, including because the minimum group size is not met, you can choose a full refund or an alternative.
