The route and the hotel pickup window are the same on both, so the decision is about people and pace, not about what you see.
What is different on a private day?
On a private day only your party is in the vehicle, with your own licensed guide, and the pace follows you instead of a group. The route is the same Red Tour: Devrent Valley, Paşabağ, Avanos and Zelve Open-Air Museum, with the same workshop stops. Pickup is from your hotel in the same 09:30–10:20 window, set by your area.

Entry tickets for the route sites, lunch, a licensed guide and hotel pickup are included on both. Drinks, tips and personal purchases are not. Our own tour prices are not typed here because they change; both tour pages show the current price, and the private page shows it per person for two.

How does the price per person change with group size?
The private price per person drops as your party grows, because the guide and vehicle are shared between more people. Each private tour page shows the price per person for two travellers.
We do not put a fixed number on that in this guide. Open the private tour page, set the number of guests in the booking window, and the figure you see there is the figure you pay.
When is the group tour the better choice?
The group tour is the better choice for a solo traveller or a couple who are happy with a fixed route and a fixed schedule. You see the same sites, with the same included tickets and lunch, and you are not paying for a vehicle and guide that only your party uses. On group tours a solo traveller simply books a seat for one.
Who private is not for: if you like a set timetable and do not mind sharing a vehicle with up to 14 guests, a private day adds little that you would use.
Either way, know what the Red Tour does not include. It does not go inside Göreme Open-Air Museum, and balloon flights are not part of any of our tours. The route's museum ticket is the combined Zelve–Paşabağ ticket, which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism lists at €12 for foreign visitors (Ministry tariff, checked 29 October 2026); it is included in both tours. Official prices can change, so check the tariff page if you visit on your own.
Can a private tour change the stops?
A private tour can adjust the pace inside the day's schedule: extra photo stops, more time at Zelve, or a shorter lunch. Our private Red itinerary allows about one to one and a half hours at Zelve, and lunch is taken when it suits your party.
The stops themselves are the stops on the tour page. If you want something beyond that, such as a different order or a different start, do not assume it. Message us on WhatsApp and we will check what is possible for your date before you book.
Does the private tour still have shopping stops?
Yes. The private Red Tour includes the same two workshop stops as the group tour: the Avanos pottery workshop and the Carpet Weaving Education Center, about 30 to 45 minutes each. They are written on the tour page, and there is no obligation to buy at either one.
Is a private tour better with children or grandparents?
Often yes, mainly because of the vehicle. With a private vehicle the guide can drop you close to each entrance, which helps slow walkers and small children, and the day does not move at a group's speed.
Two practical notes from our own tour information. Strollers are awkward at Zelve, so a baby carrier works better. And the Green Tour is not suitable for guests with claustrophobia or real walking difficulty, because the Kaymaklı underground city has passages that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism describes as low, narrow and sloping. What about a bigger group?
For a bigger party, message us on WhatsApp with your dates and the number of guests, and we will tell you how we would run it. The tour pages do not state a size rule for larger parties, so we would rather check than guess.
Which one should I book?
Book the group tour if you want the standard day at the standard pace and are comfortable sharing a vehicle. Book private if you have small children, a grandparent who walks slowly, or four or more people who want the day at their own pace.
The group Red, Green and South tours run every day. Both versions are paid in cash on the day and can be cancelled free up to 72 hours before, and Cappadocia day tours can be booked until 07:30 on the day. When you are ready, open the group Red Tour or the private Red Tour and pick your date.
