Overview

This nine-day circuit brings Istanbul, Cappadocia, and the seven churches into one journey through several periods of Christian history. Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia and Hippodrome introduce the imperial city that developed centuries after the apostles. Cappadocia offers another setting: rock-cut churches, painted interiors, and the landscapes around Göreme. The New Testament names Cappadocia among the homelands represented at Pentecost in Acts 2:9 and among the regions addressed in 1 Peter 1:1. Those references concern people and communities; the visible churches belong to later Christian history.

Highlights

  • Hagia Sophia and Istanbul’s surviving imperial monuments (Byzantine capital)
  • Cappadocia’s rock-cut churches and painted interiors (later Christian heritage)
  • Ephesus’s civic streets and the spread of Paul’s teaching (Acts 19:10)
  • Hierapolis’s theatre and the Lycus Valley churches (Colossians 4:13)
  • Laodicea’s streets and the call to renewed zeal (Revelation 3:19–20)
  • Philadelphia’s basilica piers and Sardis’s synagogue and temple precinct (Revelation 3:1–13)
  • Thyatira’s archaeological remains and its congregation’s service (Revelation 2:19)
  • Pergamon and Smyrna, with their calls to steadfast witness (Revelation 2:10, 13)

Nearby, the Blue Mosque’s tilework and the Hippodrome’s obelisk and bronze Serpent Column place successive periods beside one another. Walk the Grand Bazaar’s covered lanes and explore Topkapi’s courtyards before returning through Sultanahmet Square. The scripture reading anticipates Ephesus: Acts 19:10 describes teaching that reached people across Roman Asia. It belongs to tomorrow’s Aegean setting, while today’s monuments tell Istanbul’s later history.

The flight to Izmir brings the journey to the churches of Roman Asia. At Ephesus, walk the marble street past the Library of Celsus and Great Theatre. In Selçuk, St John’s Basilica marks his tomb by tradition; the nearby İsa Bey Mosque belongs to the later town. Meryemana recalls the tradition of Mary’s final home. Continue inland to Laodicea’s waterworks, theatre, and stadium landscape. Revelation 2:4–5 and 3:19–20 invite both communities to renew their relationship with Christ.

From this spa-city landscape, travel to Philadelphia’s surviving church piers in Alaşehir, then to the monumental gymnasium and synagogue at Sardis. The Temple of Artemis and neighbouring church show successive forms of worship. Continue to Thyatira’s small excavation before overnighting near Pergamon. Explore northern Cappadocia through Devrent’s sculpted rocks and Paşabağ’s capped stone pillars. In Avanos, the pottery workshop connects the landscape with a living craft. Göreme’s rock-cut churches and Tokalı’s painted Gospel scenes then bring later Byzantine Christianity into view, before the outlook from Uçhisar. Acts 2:9–11 names Cappadocians among those present at Pentecost in Jerusalem. It establishes an early regional connection; the churches visible today belong to subsequent centuries of Christian life here.

How long is the Biblical Turkey Circuit and where does it start?

The Biblical Turkey Circuit runs 9 Days and covers Istanbul, Pamukkale, Izmir, Cappadocia, with 7 hotel nights. Start: Your tour begins with an airport meet-and-greet on arrival in Istanbul and transfer to your hotel in the historic peninsula or Taksim area as confirmed. For the western Turkey and Cappadocia segments, daily pick-up is from your tour hotel—flight times and terminals are sent in your pre-departure email.

When is the best time for this Biblical tour?

April to June and September to October are the most comfortable months for walking the sites. July and August are hot at inland ruins such as Laodicea and Sardis, where shade is limited. Winter is quieter, but days are short and drives are long. Tell us your dates and we plan each day around the heat.

How much walking is involved at the sites?

Ephesus is a walk of two to three hours on uneven marble, mostly downhill from the upper gate. Pergamon’s acropolis is steep, with a cable car to the top. Laodicea and Hierapolis cover large, open areas, while Thyatira and Philadelphia are small sites inside modern towns. Tell us about mobility needs before we plan.

Which hotels are used on the Biblical Turkey Circuit?

  • 1 night in Pamukkale: Lycus River Thermal Hotel or similar, double room with breakfast
  • 1 night in Izmir: Ephesus Centrum Hotel or similar, double room with breakfast
  • 2 nights in Cappadocia: Celestial Cave Hotel or similar, double room with breakfast

Each night’s hotel is named in your booking confirmation.

Will our guide know the Biblical history of each site?

The itinerary includes a licensed English-speaking biblical guide on all touring days. Send your study plan and the passages you want to read, and the guide builds the site talks around them, leaving time for your own reading, prayer or teaching at each stop. Your leaders stay in charge of the devotional programme.

How is the price for our group worked out?

Biblical tours are priced by quote, not online, because the cost depends on dates, group size, rooming and route. Send the number of travellers, preferred dates, hotel standard and any sites to add or remove. We reply with a day-by-day proposal and a written price, and nothing is paid until your leaders approve it.

What to Expect on Your Turkey Tour

Everything you need to know before booking your Biblical Turkey Circuit — Seven Churches & Sacred Sites (9 Days). Honest answers from travel experts.

Is Turkey Safe for Tourists in 2026?

Yes — Turkey is one of the safest destinations for travelers in 2026. Tourist hubs like Istanbul, Cappadocia, and the Aegean coast welcome millions of visitors annually with well-established tourism infrastructure. Our guided days are led by licensed local guides, with hotel pickup and a team you can reach on WhatsApp.

What Does a Turkey Tour Package Include?

Every TurkeyVia tour includes boutique or 4-5★ hotel accommodation, daily breakfast, a professional English-speaking guide, airport transfers, entry fees to all sites on the itinerary, and private air-conditioned transport between cities. International flights, visas, personal expenses, and tips are excluded. See the Included tab above for this specific tour's full breakdown.

Are Small Group Tours Worth It?

Absolutely. Our groups max out at Church groups · semi-private · 2–10+ pax · custom quote people — that means faster entry at sites, more one-on-one time with your guide, access to boutique hotels that can't accommodate large coaches, and a genuinely personal experience. Big bus tours spend roughly 40% more time waiting — loading, counting heads, bathroom breaks. You experience Turkey, not a parking lot.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Turkey?

April through May and September through October are ideal — mild temperatures (18-25°C), fewer crowds than peak summer, and perfect conditions for sightseeing in Istanbul, Cappadocia, and along the Aegean coast. Summer (Jun-Aug) works well for coastal itineraries but inland sites can be hot. Winter offers lower prices and near-empty sites, though some mountain passes close.

How Many Days Do I Need in Turkey?

This tour is 9 Days — the ideal length to experience each destination without feeling rushed, yet short enough for a standard holiday. For a first-time Turkey visit, 7-10 days covers the Istanbul-Cappadocia-Ephesus triangle comfortably. Fewer than 5 days and you'll miss key sites; more than 14, and most travelers report fatigue. You'll cover 9 carefully paced stops.
